NO CHILL-FILTERING

A range of Craigellachie single malts was released for the first time in 2014.

The distillery is known for its meaty character, and the 13-year-old is sweet, spicy and slightly smoky.

One by one, The Last Great Malts of Scotland will leave their distillery gates.

Deemed the bad boy of Speyside, Craigellachie is an unapologetically unique and challenging Single Malt.

This is a complex dram, packed with flavour and texture. 13 Years Old, from an 1891 distillery.

Bottled at a punchy 46% ABV. A stubborn, sulphurous single malt, condensed in rusted worm tubs on an inhospitable rocky bluff.

Description

CRAIGELLACHIE 13 YEAR OLD 46%

One of the three official Craigellachie bottlings released in 2014, their 13 year old single malt Scotch whisky handsomely shows off the bold, robust character of the distillery’s output.

Oodles of dynamic fruit notes with a distinctive current of smoke running through the middle. Single malt Craigellachie hasn’t been seen much outside of indie bottlings recently, so this is an ace return to our glasses from the distillery!

A STYLE SELDOM MET

In 1891 a WHISKY EXPERT noted that CRAIGGELLACHIE represented a styele of whisky “seldom met with now,” which we took as a compliment.

Today we still use old-fashioned WORM TUBS to cool our spirit and bestow it with extra flavour, creating a dram to rival whiskies twice it age.

WORM TUBS

A WORM TUB is a long copper tube, sitting is a large tank of cold water, which snakes back and forth and gradually gets narrower.

in 1891 many distilleries condensed their spirit this way, giving their whiskies a distinctive, meaty character.

CRAGELLACHIE is one of very few still benefiting from this traditional technique
